My vote goes to Len Knauss... This fella would drive to the end of the world to get me a bag of Azomite, to help load pumpkins on lift night, to call and check up on the local growers.. Top that off with so so health and you have an amazing and most friendly friend.

I have had very little contact with heavy hitters. I did contact one via email, to request a seed, but he was out. His reply was very gracious, and I deduced from this one contact, that he is a class act, and a very nice person. His name is Mark Pukos.

I agree, there are too many nice people in this hobby. Joe Pukos is right up there with the nicest, but I could name a dozen more.

buckhorn, you and my dad should have a chat. LOL!!!! every student that gave me anything for christmas, he labeled "brown-noser". so i had to explain. you only "brown-nose" if you want something and have a hidden agenda; i dont want anything from those guys and looking back i have never even planted any of their seeds !! haha.

Brooks, Hey, I wasn't standing next to that pumpkin, I was kneeling, lol! As far as meeting friendly growers. Over the years, I've talked to hundreds and hundreds of growers from all over the world and have never run into one that wasn't friendly. Statistically speaking, I would think that to be impossible, but that's the way it is.

I don't get to many different weighoffs ( Circleville & Chillicothe, Ohio), but with the Circleville weighoff limiting its growers to a 20 mile radius everybody knows everyone else. You either grew up with them, went to school with them, or in the case of Dr. Bob Liggett he fitted you with your first pair of glasses when we were kids. What I'm getting at is I can't single out one person because it is one big family & I'm proud to be part of it...............Paul

Well said Paul.....Dick Wallace summed this up pretty good this summer when I was looking for a place for Alun to spend the next night without having to find a hotel. Since he had never met Alun, Dick asked what his PB was & how long he'd been growing. When I told him, he opened his home for the night & gave him the Rhode Island tour. When I spoke with Dick the following day he explained that no criminal or slacker would ever spend a year growing to 500lbs, then repeat it again with no promise of reward. So anyone who ever spends a few seasons growing these things has got to be OK.
I agree.
