Hi all!
Have not checked in for a bit. I was wondering, anyone have any advice for me on the Niagara Falls event? I will be attending for the first time 2005!

Remember that you can't buy beer in convenience stores in Canada. I remember well the look on the clerk's face when I asked about it.

No beer in Canadian convenience stores??? They should call them INCONVENIENCE stores.

Niagra Travel Tips

Lay out all the clothes you need. Eyeball the suitcase you need. Consider the pocket change you might need.

At the very last minute put half the clothes back where they came from. Stuff clothes in a small bag. Stop by the bank and double the cash reserves. Make sure you have an ATM card.

Most Canadians would argue that you can't really buy beer in America anyway...

Also don't get all excited thinking you're getting an awesome deal when you see the price of gas is only 89 cents. :)

Doeski,

There are, undoubtably, more BAD meals, attractions, tourist traps, experiences, etc. than there are good ones. I wrote an article here last year with some of the best. Punch "Niagara Falls" into the search box and it should be the first article. Hope it helps!

Also, as is usually the case, hotels offer rotten exchange rates, best to get Canadian money out of ATMs. Of course the US dollar has fallen so much against the Canadian dollar due to the ineptness of .....Oh nevermind. I know I'm outnumbered here.

use of a credit card will get you best exchange rate for that day but check with cashier that they do accept credit card ---beer stores do not accept credit cards

Guys, Niagara Falls will welcome you and your hard earned dollars with open arms. 24 beers of good Labatt Blue or Molson Canadian will set you back about $30Us a case. ATM cards can be used at the Brewers Retail outlets. Don't drink and drive as many times road side spot checks are used on weekends. .05 will get you suspended in Ontario.

Good 1/2 day trips for early arrivals are Niagara on the Lake at the shore of Lake Ontario. The cable car ride over the whirlpool and the caves underneath the fall are a great adventures. Well worth the time spent is also a trip up the river on the "Maid of the Mist" tour boat which travels up the gourge to the foot of the falls. CASINO Niagara will also seperate you from your wallet too. For adventurous travellers Toronto is only an hours drive around the eastern part of Lake Ontario.

Maid of the Mist.....those little boats don't operate in the winter in case icebergs come pounding over the falls.
