What is your favourite cool climate seed? Eh. Anything Eaton and I'm starting to like the Larsen 1156.

I do hope that this thread get a lot of replies as the UK is not too far off the same line of lattitude as southern Canada. (geographical experts please give you 2 cents worth if i am wrong) and our summers are not exactly blazing at the best of times.

Also some Eaton seeds seem to do well in norther climates, e.g. 842, 1301.5, 1236.

712 was the mother of another extremely cool weather most overlooked unproven seeds in the world?
The 1265 Myers 03 - 712 Kuhn x 845 Bobier uow 00. Its grandparents 935 Lloyd x 780 Eaton were really good cool weather seeds too.

727 Pearce '03
Average Temp. in August was 63 degrees pumpkin grew constent at 22.5 lbs per day. 845 Bobier in next patch slowed to 6 lbs per day from 18lbs per day and 675 Hester slowed to 1" circ. in 5 days.
All were about the same age. 727 was cut from the vine at 16lbs per day in Sept. and this after 2 frost's with heavy damage to the plant a week earlier.

The 727 did well its first year out Ernie. Another favourite of mine is the 767 Catapano with 2 over 1000 this year. I grew it at Cornerstone without maximum care and it did very well and was heavy too. Described as a rocks by some growers at Port Elgin.

We need to get the chatter up on this thread if we are to help Alan defend the Canadian and World Record next year. Come on guys. Keep the jacket in Ontario....There are many many good growers from Ontario. Papez, Cheam, Hain, Lyons, Kennedy, Catapano...and many more.
How about the Arnold Vader seeds?
Would the 709 McCallum be in this catagory too? Lots of growers are chasing this seed for planting time in 2005.

Has anyone heard of any offspring of the 1009 Picketts 03? It was an 842 Eaton X 1156 Larsen, and was grown on the east coast, I believe.

Didn't Al just redefine COOL with the 842?
I can't see any point even considering another seed for CA.
