by today, I did not get any results regarding the Frei-Challenge. Last date to send me results (--> musikpeter@hotmail.com) is the end of October (31th).

Here's my results:

976 Geyelin 13 (854.5 Frei x self) - 14% Heavy, 1st place at York.
427 Geyelin 13 (400.0 Frei x 1290 Poirier) - 1.5% Heavy, 2nd place at York.

Thanks again Pete, the 854.5 is top of my list for next year!

14% heavy, that's great. Next year I'll plant my 854.5Frei12 (= 1161Rodonis remake) too. Maybe we'll see a "Dandytown-Frei-challenge" or "Peter against Peter" (lol).
By the way, I grew my 400.0Frei12 seed too, on a 10 sq ft (only!) compost heap. This plant had one main vine (14 ft), one side vine (4 ft) and not any roots on both vines. The result was the 126.7Frei13.

Well with Yourself, Jorg and I planting the 854.5 next year we can certainly have a friendly challenge of some kind.

Congratulations Dandytown,

you are the winner of the Frei-Challenge and you won the third prize too.
14% heavy, that's great, please send me some of these 976Geylin13 seeds. You know your cross is 1161Rodonis remake x 1161remake and maybe I'll cross it next year with my 854.5Frei12 or with the 1161Rodonis again.

Thanks Pete. The 854.5 Frei was a delight to grow so thanks again for the seed. I haven't pulled the seed from the 976 Geyelin yet but I'll get some sent over to you once I have.

I'll be growing the 976 and 854 next year but have no thought yet as to possible crosses.

Peter, I forgot to mention that my 400.0 Frei was also grown on a small plot (150 sq ft). The 400 and 854 were my strongest seedlings! I am sending the remaining 400 seed to another grower in the US.
