Today a heavy storm with hail and a twister hit my village and wiped out my patch. A lot of trees got blown over and a few cars, houses and stuff got damaged.

My patch got hit dead on. Wiped out all of the pumpkin plants and some of the sunflowers. Two of the three greenhouses will need repairs. The twister ripped open the one side of the big greenhouse and took everything out (except the plants) and dumbed it in a ditch.

I'll post pictures in my diary. I think several of the plants will bounce back but the competition element is gone. The growing tip of the 1297 is gone. The other plants still have growing tips left.

Hang in there Brad, it is a never ending fight, sometimes I am not sure if we really have an influence on what happens, mother nature seems to have the upper hand with growing these giants.

Sorry to hear about your village and the patch Brad. I think this year is going to be about who did not get a storm that destroyed their patch. Kirk

Ohhh, sorry, Brad, this is really bad luck!
I could not know this when posting that e-mail.

Here it is ongoing drought, wind and low temperatures.
but that is not so bad.
I saw Jos' plants these are twice as long as mine, and I was so proud I had 3 meters inside the greenhouse. :D:D:D

I'll check your diary and see what is left over.
Other parts in Arnhem, Veendam and between is was extremely too, hailcrums of 5,6cm big!
dangerous for your kids, if it happens, many dead birds too.

All the best whatever you can make of it

Theo.
