Opened and carved my 518 yesterday and found about 20 mature seeds in it (still most of them hollow I believe), my 320 est from the same plant also had only about 10-15 seeds, all of them hollow.

My other pumpkins had about 300-500 seeds each.

Hmm, pollination problems on one certain plant, which has even done best for me this year and 3-500 seeds in all my other hand-pollinated pumpkins? Not quite likely ...

das Gewicht, Die Form und Farbe der Frucht wird im wesentlichen von den Eigenschaften der Eltern der Mutterpflanze beeinflusst.

Die Samen sind das Produkt der Kreuzung von Mutter- und Vaterpflanze, also der Eltern der kommenden Generation. Das betrifft auch die Zahl der Samen in der Frucht.

Ich hatte übrigens gleiche geringe Samenanzahl in meinem beiden AG's

Du hast 100% recht, ich glaube aber nicht dass der 628 Olsen so wenig Samen hatte ... die Anzahl der Samen wird wahrscheinlich noch durch andere Faktoren bestimmt ...

Absolutely, but those few seeds I got, don`t look like they are very likely to germinate, they mostly sound hollow. No Problem and no big issue for me. If I can get one to germinate, fine, if not, no problem. I got and will get other good seeds which deserve their palce in my patch more than my 518. It`s just the "want to plant my own seeds too / proud daddy/grower thing". However, also it is sort of embarrassing for me, because I owe half of the seeds to the organisators of the Austrian weigh off and then don`t have a considerable number of seeds.

The 628 had about 600 seeds.

600 - wow! So it can`t be a genetics problem. However one of those 628s will be planted in West-Austria again next season.

Heino, ich meinte nicht das der 628Olsen wenig Samen hatte. Es ist ja die Mutterpflanze, die zusammen mit dem Vater das Erbgut für die heurige Ernte liefert.
Nur ist die Anzahl der Samen das Ergebnis der Kreuzung der beiden diesjährigen Eltern. Es hat quasi eine mangelnde Pollenübertragung stattgefunden. Möglicherweise war die Witterung nicht gut, Narbe oder Pollen nicht in optimalen Zustand, u.u.u.

Du könntest Recht haben. Aber ich hatte einen weiteren Kürbis mit ca. 150 kg auf der Pflanze, bei der es ähnlich aussah ... naja, vielleicht sind auch die Bodenverhältnisse mit ausschlaggebend.
