Starting a new patch this next year. Soil test shows a pH of 8.2. The question is how to lower the pH. My soil test says I have 7% lime. To neutralize this I would have to add 10 tons of sulfur to the patch (not really an option). I tested my well water and the pH is 7.2. If I did an extensive watering program over the next month or so before the ground freezes would I neutralize some of the lime and lower the pH?

Lime doesn't leach very easily. Can you fax or email that soil test report? 10 tons doesn't sound right.

Gordon, I'm not sure I'd be changing much in my patch if i had the year that you did. Wow.

Brian....I'd add alot of manure. By the Spring time, it should be lower. I'm not sure if it would drop one point, however!
