Hi,
I've found a source of horse manure that is 20 years old. Is this too old?

If it is that old it should be basic top soil by now if not there would have to be something seriously wrong with it so I would say grab all you can get but that is only my thoughts

I haven't seen it yet but it was described to me as being basically black dirt. I have already unloaded several yards of horse manure that is 1 year old and there's more where that came from. I guess what I want to know is which would be best to till in this fall if I have access to both? 1 year old or 20 year old? If the 1 year old horse manure is the better choice for improving the patch this fall would the 20 year old horse manure still be good to cover the vines with next summer?
