rye will still grow at 39 degrees, I've planted as late as November 20 th.

It is really never too late. If you miss the window for this fall it will come up first thing in the spring. It germinates pretty much as long as the soil is not frozen.

you will never get winter rye to germinate in Nova Scotia this time of year cueball.Save the seed for spring or sept of next year.
