Nutrient levels, Phosphorous 7 ppm, potassium 52 ppm, calcium 358 ppm, Magnesium 53 ppm, cation exch cap 16.1 meq/100g percent base saturation k=0.9 mg=2.7 ca=11.2 micronutrients ppm boron 0.1 manganese 1.1 zinc 0.6 copper 0.4 iron 14.9 sulfur 14.4. Looks like you have some work to do, lots of these numbers are quite low. I would start with lime to raise your ph and calcium levels since lime takes a few months to begin to work. There are a lot of great growers in your state who probably know your soil type very well, get to know a couple of them and take their advice.

I would try to contact Tom at extremepumpkinstore.com I was in your shoes a couple years ago and had a heck of a time trying to figure it out on my own. Cation exchange rates and nutrient ratios will make your head spin. Tom helped me out alot.

Thanks for the info. Yes I beleive that I have a lot to do to get the soil in shape. Being my first year I am focusing on getting my soil in good shape and growing a decent pumpkin as well. I by no means expect to set the new world record. (......or do I?).....well it was a thought! Been looking at too many of Ron Wallaces photos...I CAN DREAM CAN'T I !!!!! LOL. Looks like with the help from everyone on BigPumpkins.com, a little bit of reading and some perseverance. I will have a fun growing season.

I thank you all! I just sent out an email to extremepumpkinstore. Apparently Tom is well respected in this community. You will probably see a lot of questions from me this growing season. I am looking to learn as much as possible.
