Well my fall soil test is done, I did dig down so I know I have more organic matter up high but I am on pure sand and added alot of horse manure last year...planning on doing the same with some leaves and possibly even ashes from my fire. Any help would be great, the patch is 45x75 I have alot of 3-4 yr old horse manure available! Thanks Travis

Yes yes it could of, and being a landscaper I definetly had some large pallets too! I will have to make one that goes over the wheel wells of the truck though!

Sage advice from Mark to which I'd add 7 lbs SOP if using cow manure, 3 lbs if using horse. Give or take.

If you are on sand, you will likely have to add a lot of manure & leaves every year to keep the OM level up. There is just too much pore space in the sand, allowing so much oxygen in the soil that the microbes will basically eat the carbon and exhale CO2 into the atmosphere. That is why most native sandy soils don't build up much OM under natural conditions. If you can find some good silty black soil to add to that sand you can help things out some. The silt will hold more water and fill up some of the pore space.

Nice thanks, yah Im gunna be putting some old horse manure in, leaves and grass, I dig it out and stir it all up with the bobcat about 1.5 feet deep so then it gets an even consistency! Thanks mark for your seed, that plant was crazy but I lost my main so I only got a 600 pounder on a side!
