What could one expect if the Sulphur content is too high in a soil analysis?

I always thought it would be low PH but the guys say no. My question is can you leach out the sulphur in your soil conditions or is it just business as usual in Colorado. Great question Wiz...hope the big guys can help us out.

Gary,

Which lab & method did they use?
How high is the report?
Some labs tend to report S higher than others.

I had the same question this year. I was worried about adding too much gypsum as the sulpher does not get used nearly as quickly as the calcium does. I spoke with the gentleman at A&L in Modesto, CA who ran my soil test. What he told me was that I should not even be concerned with sulpher levels until they are up in the 7,500-10,000 ppm.
My levels were just under 400 ppm and he just laughed.

milford, CT,

In 2008 my sulfur was 700 ppm...I was concerned...I grew my PB last year (1246) and the sulfur was down to 125 ppm by the fall. I wouldn't sweat it too much. Just keep an eye on it and if you don't have to use gypsum use other means of amending calcium. It's all about the PH...Mark
