Hey fellow pumpkin lovers, I just went to the M.U. website about getting my soil tested and it gives a long list of things I can get it tested for. I was wandering of the list what should I get my soil tested for?



Regular analysis, $10
pHs, neutralizable acidity, organic matter, Bray-I phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, cation exchange capacity, fertilizer recommendations
$5 per individual nutrient analyses
Secondary and minor nutrients
Zinc, $4
Sulfur, $4
Iron, manganese and copper, $4.50
Sodium, $2
Boron, $5
Other tests
Nitrate-N, $4
Ammonium-N, $4
Nitrate-N and ammonium-N, $7
Total exchangeable bases: calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium, $6
Electrical conductivity, $6
Particle size analysis, $12
pHs, $4
pHw, $4
Special tests
Total Kjeldhal nitrogen, $12
Total phosphorus, $15
Total potassium, $15
Sodium absorption ratio, $12

I like how they give the price of the test to. Just wandering what all I need to have it tested for. Thanks.

Brad, I went with A and L west labs and they did a complete test for 33 dollars, which included email notification. Let me know if you want to do it this way and I will help just let me know. If you put a note saying Giant Pumpkins and how big of a patch you have they will let you know what you need to add for AG's and how much.

Oh wow I might have to contact them to then. I E-mailed M.U about it but it is late so i am waiting to hear from them before I make my mind up just yet. But i will gladly take any advice I can get.

Brad, just let me know. I'm not sure how great you are reading soil test, HOWEVER if your like me. If all becomes confusing. These folks are great.
