recommendations were to add lime (40# per 1000 sq ft.) and nitrogen ( i do not know how much )

Calcium is low. So, whatever you use (lime) it should have a good percentage of Ca.

There is only so much that can be safely done this time os year.
Lots of aged well composted manure - up to 3". No more than 70 lbs of lime (per 1000 sq ft) tilled to 9".
You will need to soil test again midsummer if things are going well. Soil teat again come fall either way.
