I was just wondering when would be a adequate time frame to get my second soil sample? would it have been long enough now to get a accurate read as far as enough time for the ammendments I added in the Fall to do there thing? I was going to wait till the end of March but i am anxious to see were it is at? I obvious will need alittle more warm-up to get the soil soft enough to take a deep enough sample (6"?)because it is still frozen and snow covered Any input would be great.. Thanks Bumkin Thanks Bumkin

You should wait untill the frost is all out of the ground to give you the best reading. I wait until it has dried out enough that I am not sampleing mud. Also be sure to use a plastic pail. Collect 6" deep samples from several areas of the patch and combine to get a composite sample.
