The ground is just about ready to till under the cover crop. When do I take the soil samples? Should I till and then let it sit for a week or two? Take it before it is tilled? Doesn't matter? Wanted to get the soil test into the lab to allow a bit of time to make some minor adjustments. Thanks

Eric,
I would test a sample before adding anything.

The organic debris from the cover crop cannot be in the sample when submited. If it is, the lab will need to remove it before testing.

Grab the sample before tilling & remove as many roots as possible before sending it along.

Petman, Steve Zien spoke to our garden club about organic gardening. He has a web site that tells you how to take a sample for soil testing. The website is organiclandscape.com. His business is in Citrus Heights about 30 mins. north of me.
