Well, I went to my local supply store where I get all my, "supplies" and they wanted 11.99 for a 50# bag of gypsum! So. . . . I went to Home Depot and they didn't have it. Said they didn't carry it. I said, he didn't need to carry it, I had borrowed a pick-up. He said they don't have it. I said OH. Does anybody know an inexpensive place to buy gypsum? (That's not a hundred miles away)?

If you know a golfer,,and if they have an in at a golf course,, and if that said golf course has a program for using gypsum you may find some there.
Of course that borrowed pickup might have to be shinedup a bit to make the final approach to the clubhouse.

I sell Gypsum in 50 lb bags for $8-$9.00 depending on the quantity but we're probably over a hundred miles away. LOL
$12 isn't bad for retail. The way freight costs keep increasing it might soon be a bargain.

you think $11.99 is expensive? by the time your done driving around to find a better deal you're going to end up spending more money in gas, not to mention all the time it took. you're time is not worth driving all over town for to save at most $5.00.

My friend with the tractor mentioned contacting a drywall manufacturer. Anybody ever done that?

Boom Boom, Drywall gypsum is not the same as regular gypsum. Don't use drywall gypsum.

Here in CA home depot seems to always carry it , 40 lbs for aprox 4.00$ ,, if that home depot doesent carry than ask for list of other home depots ph numbers & save time & gas by calling ,I would think youd find it somewhere not to far !

Now that is interesting.....A fair amount of advisory persons writing on organic growing advise their readers to not use gypsum at all. One question is very important. Once all that sulphur is in the patch how does one get it out when it becomes a problem?

LOL That Wal-Mart garbage isn't exactly golf greens grade but it'll do fine in the garden.
The Sulfur concern is legitimate on some soils. That's why soil testing is so important when breaking new ground.
