Now that Ive done all my additives would I better off waiting till the spring for the stuff to mix in and break down before testing or can a test be taken anytime?

thanks
Dave

I always do my amendments in the fall, then test in the spring as soon as its dry enough that I can get it worked over once. I plough my ground in the fall so I dont get real good mixing going on untill I work it in the spring. I know you roto till everything in in the fall so mixing is not an issue, However I would still wait untill spring.
Just my 2 cents

Ditto...It takes time for amendments to react with the soil.

Dave, because I am so curious, I will winter test my soil in at least one patch to monitor any PH change in my soil from the fall rototill. I hope to test just before freeze up which occurred here in my area last year in the last weak of December.

My first 900sq.ft. patch was completed in early Oct. with amendments of 20 bags of leaves, 28 pounds of sulfur and 20 pounds Urea 46-0-0. I continued adding 10 pounds of Alfalfa meal tilled twice and watered deeply with a 4x rate Dosatron mixture of molasses.

The test will be approx. three months from the first tilling. I am hoping to see some change in the PH level by then.
