Am I helping causing this split with my inexperience with positioning and should I worry about this type of split as I do have two others on the main on this plant? It is 16 DAP and 103 OTT as of this morning and is growing nicely. I would like to keep it as its location with my patch size is ideal, going to my next selection will be a bit tight.

You are doing the right things. That split doesn't look too bad, keep her dry and she should be fine.

Precision noodle work!
If you haven't already, maybe move that plant marker to avoid a mark (ironic) on that pretty pumpkin---eg

Dont put your support right under the stem. Put two of those the under the vine on either side of stem. Those little splits dont mean anything bad.

I was really worried about splits like that and the pumpkin turned out just fine.
