Would the pumpkin plants benefit from having a cover, in 30-40 degree weather? If so, is it necessary, there is a nice 150 pound squash, and 200 pound pumpkin in the patch that are growing at least 10 pounds a day, and look promising to go over 500, and I was wondering if I should cover for a mid October weigh off.

Yep definitely cover them...put a blanket on them at night and take it off in the morning when it warms up.

leave covered till 60 plus degrees, i like to lay the blanket flat in the sun to assist warming it,, gallon water jugs help as well in full sun, n put under the blanket at night as well,

On the fruit, or the plant? I only have 2 blankets and 3 sheets I can use for the patch. I may also be able to cover one plant with plastic, but probably not.

Holland covered his 2363 during September. The whole plant I think... But they can still grow pretty well at low temps. If you can keep the frost off they will keep growing.
