Last time I posted several people mentioned my leaves looked starved, and recommended I add some fertilizer to green them up. I did, and most of my leaves are now a dark green. Around the stump however, and starting down the main, my leaves are turning mottled and shriveling up and dying. Could someone look at my diary once the photos upload and give me some advice,? Should I be cutting these out? Does it look like disease, pests, or some kind of deficiency? Can I treat this, or do the old leaves just die off like this? Thanks for any help!

all i can offer is possibly the initial problem may have been cucumber beetle damage (all the little pinholes) which can lead to other things taking advantage of the weakened leaf surface. not sure about the rusted edges of the leaves, but old leaf age can take on many forms. i am sad for bees when i used Imidacloprid for cuke beetles, but for several weeks i did not see any CB and i hardly see ANY recurring damage of that pin-holey sort - hope this helps---eg

Looks like cuke beetle damage from when the leaf was younger. Or, if you spread fertilizer by hand, the pellets will burn holes like that. I would spray chlorothanolil, if you are not doing so, as it could be the start of downey mildew also with the yellowing . You may be low on potassium, as the edges of leaves look dry/ brownish. Thanks for the input, it could be cuke beetles, though I've been spraying for bugs and mildew, maybe I just need to step it up a bit. Fertilizer burn is possible, I used granular triple 13 early on, before switching to miracle grow liquid fert. I also considered possible low potassium, I ordered some k mag that should be in next week, nowhere local carries it. I'll check out the leaf problem pages and see if I can narrow it down. My guess is the necrotic spots are from spray damage, It is a classic example of it. (my plants have it too). When I say spray damage it could mean fertilizer too. Basically it was caused by something that was applied to the leaves. In my opinion you could remove the affected leaves to air out the plant, but it really doesn't make too much of a difference. It is pretty normal to see that this time of year.
The very best growers however, myself not included are very aware of what touches there leaves and squeeze the maximum amount of life out of them.
