I checked the pumpkin stem and noticed that the stem was bent pretty good and the stem had a line around it and was wet and soft I put fungicide on it but I'm not sure what caused this or is it just because the stem was bent to much trying to straighten any advise is greatly appreciated.

Is there vine tension bending the stem?

Yes I loosened the vine up and put blocks under stim but I'm afraid to move to much.

Yea...wait til it’s warm to move...this is the reason for early vine positioning..I’ve had a few that I screwed up early and got into trouble and had to cut some major vines to relieve pressure/make room...it happens...have to keep a close eye on that stem...fungicide is good, sulpher powder and captan on the stem and keep dry with a fan running on it if you can ..if it’s growing fast you have to check everyday....journals are always a good idea because you have other sets of eyes that have made these mistakes watching along with you...good luck

Thank you for the information where can you get the sulpher and captan.

Without pics it’s hard to advise but sometimes it’s easier to reposition the pumpkin then the vines..you know, cuz 400lb pumpkins are easy to reposition...uggh...fun, isn’t it?

Looks like it’s on its way to healing already...sulpher/captan/ fan...if you can keep the stress off the vine, that should be fine...good luck

tseiter, like what was posted above. you need to some how relieve stress on the vine, by cutting some tap roots or adjusting the kin .also you need to clean out the rot around that crack or it will continue to get worse.

If you have disease pressure like Rick , yes...get that sucker scraped and healed...so ya don’t freak out , I’ve seen worse dry up and heal on their own...always better to be safe than sorry...
