Anybody brand new to the sport this season??...

Owensboro, Ky.

Knot I, but it sorta seems like it, as I have not been able to be a serious grower for a few years. Mom's mental health, and my physical health have sorta limited me for the past few years. I now have a couple of helpers so am ready to grow this year!! Wish us luck!! A tad curious...why the search for newbies? Peace, Wayne PS...have seen several new names in auction sites, and message boards...so guessing that there are at least a few "brand new" folks!

My now twelve year old saw lord of the gourds on pbs about three years ago, has been bugging me ever since. He was excited when I told him we were going to try it this year.

How did I miss Mr. SB's reply...? Seeing as you have done this for the past 10 year's or so...in my situation, I would not accept you not doing it again in 2017!!! Peace, Wayne

My wife "Kirsha" is growing for the first time this year. A friend of mine from school is also growing her first kin ever, but not sure if she signed up on here yet or not. So count 2 rookies in West Virginia :)

Here's this years lineup. I'm also increasing my bed sizes from 24x24 to 35X35. I found out last year they were they got way to crowded.
1824 Shenoha
1861 Adkins
1689 Barron
1937 Urena
1916 Barron
302D30

Mr. Hobbit sir...am curious...what is a 302D 30? The rest of your line up looks amazing!! Grow em BIG!!! Peace, Wayne

Hobbit

Walhalla, ND.

The 302D30 is a Barlow 2016. 2145.5 McMullen X 2009 Wallace. It grew to 302 OTT at day 30 it stopped growing. He harvested the seeds at day 36. As you can see, I'm using four 2145.5 McMullen crosses. My intentions are to cross those with the the heavy % Barron's (1916 20%) and the (1689 27%) I can't afford the 2145.5 itself or the 2624, so I'm taking the affordable approach. I've got my fingers crossed. You grow em big also PW.

Wolf, according to the GPC rules...as I understand them? Your rookie year is the first year you take a pkn to an official weighoff? Could be wrong!!! Peace, Wayne
Official weighoff in KY is 3rd Sat, in Sept!!! Hope to see you there!

This is my first year, as I am only 16. But, I have been doing so much research I think I've got a good chance at growing something of decent size. I will be growing a 2624 willemijns and possibly an 1844 Holub.

Simple soil test has been done so I know what my levels of N,P,K are along with PH. I've got about 10 yards of compost (sterile) coming in a couple weeks that will also be tested before going in
