Pumpkin is getting more ribbed as it grows (http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=264701)

Tape measure is doing it's best to slip between the ribs when measuring cc, but should it be the outside of the ribs for accuracy?

...and do they go lighter to chart as they measure a bit more than is representative of 'whole' pumpkin if doing it from largest part?

I measure to include the largest portions. At a weigh off, I also noticed this was done. With regards to the soil test on your diary - I try to use powered seaweed to increase my potassium and mix with humic acid. You mention your calcium seems high? Maybe it is unavailable to the plant. Try foliar feedings with Biomin Liquid Calcium every week. 2T to 1 gallon. With regards to the sulfur, I use Encap and use it sparingly since it is a quick releasing sulfur. If you see more of the vine disease showing on your photos, I would try Malathion, but do it very early in the morning. Once I battled SVB this year with my 1623, I have seen a really decent improvement and I now have a wildly growing fruit. Your Lily and Stella pumpkins look great!!

Thanks BiddyGoat - i'll start using a bit of tape to help assist with measuring the outer part of ribs. Think you're right in the fact that calcium there but just not available - thanks for suggestions, I've done a foliar and drench with hopefully more soluble calcium - will see if I can't sort something out in soil next year. Sulphur a bit low, but so was manganese - so hopefully foliar of manganese sulphate will supply a bit here. Have enjoyed growing them so far; and a month still on the clock. 😊
