I'm thinking about taking one of my pumpkins to the state fair in mid August. I'd really like to have the pumpkins last through Halloween, even if I wouldn't be able to carve it. How long could it last if not kept outside until around Halloween? Thanks!

Jon, outside in the heat & humidity, in KC...prbly not till Halloween. Prbly not 60 days in any conditions...cooler & dryer would expand your storage range, but 60 days is a big push! Peace, Wayne

If you can try to find a cold storage, it might make it. Problem is once it is gone it is to late. I don't even like to display pumpkins inside during October for fear of a puker. The stench is unbearable, so I am told

I had a 190 pounder last over a year inside my house. I cut it open when I picked the next years pumpkin, and it was fresh as ever. also had my 532 last for several months, took it to the fair, after a couple weeks of sitting in the yard, then a month later took it to colorado to be weighed, then it sat outside and froze for a while.

If you cut it in mid august and it gets warm in a state fair building I don't like its chances of making it to Halloween. You should pick one or the other imho
