http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=262221 I have a backup on my Eric Shaw plant, it's growing at twice the rate as the one I have siting on the platform. What do I need to do to switch to this one. Can I cut away the leaves prop up a platform over top of the other secondaries? Somebody please help me, Porkchop u out there?

I'm here buddy...a platform is a good option...just keep in mind that pumpkins in secondaries start out growin faster but can peter out quicker..tough call with the damage to leaves took.. You wanna keep as many as you can... Personally I think your doing great and should go with your gut...

which secondary is that one on. I have noticed that the pumpkins closest to the stump start out the fastest....since that is the most developed secondary but peter out the quickest..since there is only one vine behind it to support it.

I see, it's about # 8 secondary DOP 7/13, Yes close to the stump, the one I'm thinking of culling is at 16 ft out DOP 7/10, I do have another on the main at 20 ft out DOP 7/16, maybe I should wait and see what that one will do?

Yea..wait and see if the 20' takes...I'd rather lose a few days and stay on the main...

Thanks Porkchop. I culled that one on the secondary. I figured that was the only way to go.

i did that earlier hobbit...culled one before i was sure that the next one was set. Fortunately, it was the right call in my case...big difference in growth. Sometimes you have to gamble.

I hope it is in my case as well. This plant has been good at setting. I had one at 9 ft DOP 6/23 I wish I would have kept that one. I've set a total of 5 on this plant. 2 secondaries and 3 mains. Culled the 2 secondaries and one main so far. My others are rocking and rolling. When's your weigh off down there bnot?
