I terminated my first set of secondaries yesterday, buried the ends, they grew another 4in overnight, buried again this morning now they've still grown some more. How much longer will the continue to grow?

Yep I cut the ends off. I'm not getting new growth. Just the vine keeps getting longer.

Lol. No the darn end keeps popping up out of the ground, kinda like one of those morning things you know lol. So should I bury the end deeper?

Use small stakes to hold down the end of the vine.

You can guesstimate how long they will stretch out, because you can check the length of the last couple of internodes and from the last fully stretched internode on you can count the number of short internodes left...within a couple of days they will also stretch to almost full length, for example if most of the internodes are 1' long and then, between the last fully stretched one and the terminated vine tip there are 4 significantly shorter internodes left (which currently amount to a 2' vine section), you can guess that these five internodes will eventually stretch to amount to 4' length (hence, the vine will become about 2' longer within a couple of days).

Thanks Pumpking, that makes perfect sense. Just the answer I was looking for.

You can let the vines grow past their space by two/three leaves and then term when last kept leaf is 80% grown. That will keep the vine on the ground better and the last leaf will burn less. The last leaf will still get huge and lean out past where you wanted it.

Sounds like the fix I need, I'm getting kind of tired of burying those secondaries. Thanks cojoe.

I thought people let the vine tip dry a few days before you bury ?
