Hey everyone, I have seeds that are in the process of germinating and I am trying to plan ahead a bit. My seeds are in 4" peat pots with plastic wrap over the top. I have them in a cooler and have them around 85 degrees.
My question is, once the seeds push dirt and I take the plastic wrap off, how much water do I need to give them? Also, would this be a time to fertilize or use a compost tea? Thanks for your help and advice!

Thanks for the reply. How much water once the leafs emerge and the plastic is off? I am guessing just a few sprays or maybe a table spoon or two? Also, how often should the new plants get water? Any compost tea? Thanks again!

I planted my germed seeds in damp soil (not wet) in one gallon containers 7 days ago...just got back today.. They are all up..be at least a couple days til I water...I used good potting soil w mykos so I won't be feeding any ferts for now...food really depends on the soil mix you use..If you fert at all, start with dilute fertilizer...very easy to muck them up when they are young..hope that helps...good luck

(I would also take the plastic wrap off if you have them enclosed already in a cooler...(too wet)...(my opinion)

Thanks Porkchop! I should note the plants are in the cooler, but the lid is open so the temps are right around mid 80's in it. This is my first year so lots of questions. I used an organic seed starting mix, but didn't put any mykos in, so that's why I was asking about ferts. About how much water will you give yours in a couple of days. Should I add some mykos once I re-pot them in to 2 gallon bags? Thanks again!

Yup...mykos when you replant...next time I water I'll just water like it's any other plant...that should hold me over til I plant in the ground at the end of this week....I would rather wonder if I'm keeping them too dry than too wet until the plants are in the ground, lay down and start running...and don't forget to pay attention to the grow journals..Ron W, tumbleweeds, LL, country boy , bubba,Q-tip....just to name a few of the greats...also...look into joining the wwgg.. Enter a novice competition , then get awesome secret how-to videos...very informative...all new growers should keep the questions comin..yer gonna need the answers eventually...(just remember to take my advice w a grain of salt...I'm not sure I know what I'm doing yet)

Thanks again Porkchop. I've been watching a lot of the diaries and will keep an eye on those. I'm out of town this week for work, but was planning on wwgg when I get back home later this week. My wife is left with taking care of the plant this week while I am out of town. Let's just say she is less than thrilled... :)
