Is it possible something ate the growth tips off all my secondaries but left the main alone? Or is this sympotmatic of something else? I've manage to keep the bunnies out with fencing, but admittedly I don't have eyes on it 24 hours a day.

Deer like the new tips. They will eat the main sometime. Last year was a bad one for me. I'm using a deer repellent on the wind fence. They are staying away so far.
