So I am considering keeping 2 pumpkins on my giant pumpkin vine, how significantly will this affect the size of the pumpkins do you guys think? I am aiming for 2 400 to 500 lb pumpkins so not super heavy hitters. In a good patch with good seed, do you think this is possible?

Yes, it's fairly common to see people grow two to three 500 pounders on one plant. Some go much heavier

That's what I wanted to here thanks very much for the quick response. I only have the one vine so I didn't want to put all my eggs in one basket as I really want to take something to the weigh offs.

When you say one vine you mean one plant? Are you growing secondaries off the main vine?

id grow the first two on side vines (left and right off the main 10 ft or so down, and the third one at the 15-20 ft mark on the main.

I grew a 899 main vine fruit and 562 side vine fruit last year. I dont think they compete with each others weight as much as you'd think.
