Subject: Cutting first pumpkin

Hey guys I have a vine with two pumpkins on the main vine but the first one is almost stopped growing so can I cut it off and the second one further down the vine will be ok and how do I got about cutting it off please thanks guys

So do you mean cut the stem slowly over a few days then sorry for been so dense

Yes.... Cut a wedge half-way through the stem today... Finish clipping off tomrw...

What does cutting them off over several days help with?

It helps so you don't get a surge in growth in the pumpkin down the vine. If your plant is not very aggressive, it won't matter but generally cutting a V in the stem of the pumpkin you are removing helps this.
