Hi everybody,
I had a fungus problem that started in June 2011. Any pumpkins that were set in June or later developed a grey & black fungus that looked like hairs about 1/4 inch long. It started at the blossom and by the second day would cover the entire fruit and it would shrink to nothing within a few days after that. What fungicide do y'all use? I tried several fungicides for squash plus seven powder and also some fruit tree spray. I should have gotten some pics but I didn't. This fungus killed every pumpkin that set after June so I did not do well. Only got two pumpkins to grow and one of them split.

Marty, I think your problem is not a fungus but rather too much fertilizer during pollination time.Maybe ease off on the fert two weeks before you set your fruit and 1 week after fruit set.
This should help you out, but if im wrong dont be afraid to correct me anyone!

Did you remove the blossom petals a day after pollination? This is recommended to prevent rot and to allow airflow especially during those hot months. Those lobes can get soft and grow a fungus like a rotting apple.

Also, Sevin isn't a fungicide.

Wow thats sounds like a virus or something in the soil or
was it real hot when you pollinate, it may not have took ????????
