Hello, I'm going to start growing in 2012, well AG's anyways. I have sent out a few bubbles for seed to be returned in but was wondering how do I go about storing them correctly for next years season? Also do pumpkin seeds tend to grow more aggressively if frozen to mimmick the winter season? Have the Growing world class pumpkin II ordered and on its way, just wanting to make sure I know what to do if seed arrives before the instructions do. Thank you. Now do they need to be kept in a baggie, a light tight jar or is there something made specifically for storing the AG seed? Sorry to have the 20 ?'s spill just dont want to start off on the wrong foot ya know. We have already designated a large area of the farm, composed the crap out of it, sent off for a soil test, and will of course test again in early spring, bought all the nutes needed, so spent quite a bit of $ thus far and just dont want it to be a biggo waste. Oh, ok. Hmmm so what do I need to do to store them? Cool dark, woodenbox with some desacant (sp)? Just to keep the moisure and light off of them. I read that little baggies or envelopes to actually hold the seed is ok. Ugh will it tell me how to store in the GWCP II book? God I hope so, have a few coming for free but also spent money on some good ones that I do not want to go bad on me before spring.

been growing for many years. never froze a seed yet.we keep them in a small leather bound square salesmans case.we store the case in a cool dark closet. never had a problem no matter how long we keep the seeds.

Hey Shade, listen to Pap. You'll come to realize that his input is pretty valuable. Plus, there's a pretty good chance that the seeds you are getting have genetics of pumpkins that him or his son, Ron, grew somewhere down the line.

I don't have a case, but I keep mine in manila folders packed away in drawers.

Just started receiving my seeds today. Someone even through a cpl seed for a monster Watermelon I think its a 198.5, so now my enthrallment has doubled. Thank you kind sir (Pap), I will put this knowledge to use. Nothing like getting good advice from a good pumpkin growing veteran. Thank you all very much and hopefully I can grow one large enough to make everyone want my seed next year. Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone ! ! ! ! !

Charlestown is right at the bottom of Indiana. I am a hop skip and a jump away from the Ohio river. I would say I'm about 15 mins from Louisville Ky, well when the bridges are open right now I could swim there in the freezing waters faster then driving....lol
