Has anyone ever put grass clippings on their patch. I didn't know if it tied up to much in the soil or not?????

Grass clippings work great, they have a low carbon to nitrogen ratio so they break down quickly. Just make sure the clippings don't have any weed killer residue (2,4-D).

Yup, I am applying them to my patch with leaves this fall before applying my rye.

Have used them the last two years, as mulch on top of the freshly tilled soil. As the AG plants were growing I dug in the grass clippings mulch, step by step, and I suspect (and hope) it had beneficial effect on soil quality both as a shading mulch layer and as worm food. Haven´t noticed any disadvantages.
