Hi this is my first year and I have had some stem rot. Its not in the pumpkin yet. I was wondering if I cut them. or just take my chances leave them. The biggest is taped at 400lbs I just want it to make it to Halloween.

a sound pumpkin thats picked and placed in a cool or shady area can last a very long time.the key word being SOUND.
if having a pumpkin for halloween is your goal ? then id pick it and place it in a cool area. keep her dry and if the stem has rot issues as you mentioned? cut off the rot or even the entire stem , treat thecut area with a fungicide then dry the wet area with a fan or blow dryer.

this is a great hobby with new growers getting involved every year.many do not last as there expectations dont always match up with their results however ill promice you this. if you stick with it? learn as much as possible? do the right things? put in the work? you will ne amazed at what you can accomplish.

I spray 10% bleach 90% water on a mushy stem on harvested stuff,if still growing use hydrogen peroxide instead, not as harsh on a living plant.
