Big Ange

we are off to a late start with all the rain we had then our tiller was out of commision. My question is at what point do we start up our fertilizing program?

i only put my plants in on 06/05 and they are doing well, all i've used this far is fish fertilizer/seaweed. growing slow but good. it was just enough to give them a kick star-added it twice a week-now it's mother natures turn

What did you add to the soil?

i didn't add much do to the fact my soil is real rich-it's had mulch, sawdust, leaves rotting in it for 03 years. when i dug into the soil to decide if i wanted to plant there,it was pure black-almost like bagged potting soil.it's like that for 10 to 12 inches then strait sandy top soil beneath that. so i disced it with the tractor added cow manuer and planted. i figured for the first year it would be good. i did not know that you had to test the soil before i started-so i'll give it my best

I PUT A PIECE OF BLACK LAWNSCAPING FABRIC AROUND MY WEAKEST PLANT. THE SOIL IS TILLED TO ABOUT 10" DEEP IN A 8'x8' SQUARE. THE IDEA OF THAT IS TO POSSIBLY HEAT THE SOIL A LITTLE MORE AROUND THE PLANT.HAS ANYBODY HEARD OF ANYONE DOING THIS? OR WILL THIS HARM MY PLANT? I ALSO PUT SOME CHIVES AROUND MY PATCH-I READ IT KEEPS BEETLES AWAY ALSO GARLIC DOES THE SAME THING. SO FAR I SEEN 01 BEETLE AND NO OTHER BUGS.
