The straw I mulched with was very seedy. My patches are looking more like lawns. Any ideas on how to get rid of it? Way too much to weed by hand. What about Round Up?
TIA,
Sandy

Some people like Don Young use Round Up on CALM days. If you get any on a leaf, cut the leaf off immediately.

If I were to use Round Up, I'd use a large piece of cardboard between the weeds and my plants, just in case.

The plants are still in their hoop houses so I could just close them up and spray, no problem.

In the past I've found that a seedy bale of straw or hay will heat up to over 120 degrees on its own if left outside to get rained on. That heat will take care of most of the seeds. So now anytime I buy straw or hay for mulching I let it get rained on a little while before hand.

No shortage of rain this year. I should have left the bales outside. Thanks for the info guys.

Grass getter(Poast) will kill all grasses...It does not harm pumpkins.. The active ingredient is sethodoxim(sp). Do not spray it near corn...
