Plant the seedling with the second true leaf pointing in the direction you want the main vine to go. Occasionally you will have to train the vine to the exact direction you want it but bottom line you can make them go whichever direction you want.

Its pure luck which way they want to lean once they start to vine, I have a plant at the moment that refuses to go straight down the middle of patch (north south ish) and want to head toward the east. I have a line of bamboo stakes holding it over till the roots get in the ground.

Like Mark said above, most of the time the plant will lay down opposite the direction of the first true leaf or in other words will run in the direction of the 2nd leaf. So when you get the seedling in the ground, position accordingly. See quote below from the Wiz when I asked this question some time back:
"Yes opposite of the first true leaf......most of the time....lol the reason for this is.....first the round cots will come out.....then you will see the first triangular leaf....... or First true leaf.....then two leafs will appear next.......the reason the plant should lean that way....is due to the weight.....that those two leaves will present... "

Thank you all for sharing growing exprience :0) this is my 2nd season growing giant pumpkin lect of exprience I did some trial and error earlier some giant pumpkin plant have been lift and reposition growing driection and some giant pumpkin plants I train the vine carefully with bamboo stick like a " U Turn "
The giant pumpkin plants that been lift reposition the plant been shock a bit slow growing and is recovering grow picking up again, not really a good idea LOL.. we learn as we go plants that did the " U Turn " are growing well more advance then the plants being lifted and re position because of some fine roots being damage from lifting.
Next time I will get ir right look for the "leafs sign" :0) thank you all again for the great growing infomation.
