rybec, You need to get your soil tested before you do anything else,A&L labs in Modesto, Ca. is the place,look them up on the web and print out the form follow the instructions cost is a little over 30.00 get the recomendations for your soil just a dollar more and make sure where it asks for the crop indicate giant pumpkin this fall you can get your soil off to a good start and in the spring do another test to adjust before you plant,have fun!

the eastern office of A&L labs charges about half what the western office in Modesto does for the same tests.

rybec You can't get a better compost than Organimix... absolutely do it in the fall and, if you can, add to it next Spring.
