many reasons can cause this.
to much water
no water
to hot
poor pollination
soil diseases
soil makeup ( ie-high nitrogen levels?)
etc-etc-etc
read up on the hobby , learn from what you read, better results could follow.
soil balance is the most important part of your game plan. soil to far out of balance will cause other nutrients to be locked up and therefore unavailable to the plant and fruit.

this happened to me too - this was my first year of trying to grow pumpkins and every pumpkin would start growing, then start turning yellow and got soft - didn't get one - will try again next year - noticed when I was throwing everything away that there was some fuzzy white stuff on main vine - any ideas what this might be?

I'd never argue with pap...He pointed out all of it. I went two years with pumpkins starting on a good looking vine and they all aborted....tissue samples showed fusarium/altanaria(sic)...they(test lab) like fresh samples as soon as you can get it to them.your symptoms sound very simular...just trying to save ya another year if ya can move the patch do so.....bleach off all your tools ..and never walk from teat patch to the other.
Good luck...GrowEmBig!
