I found a dark green 1 1/2 " vine boror on the main vine about 8 " from the pumpkin. I pulled it out, it had gone about a 1/4' in and left a 1/8' diamiter hole.

I sprayed the area with Ortho max garden disease which has 29.6% Chlorothalonil.

Any thing else I should do?

Chlorothalonil is a fungicide I think. Won't kill bugs if that is the case.

As far as I know the SVB's are white, but I am sure there are plenty of different grubs out there that could be the culprit.

I would confirm he was the only grub there then hit the whole with a little alcohol, Hit it with a fungicide (The stuff you used is fine, it is the same as daconil as far as i know) I would prob. use captan comes in a powder form, coat it up really good, keep it dry and it should heal just fine.

I would definitely check on it every couple days to make sure it is not getting any worse.

Good luck.

As A note you should be using some sort of insect control on every 7 to 10 days. What ever you use make sure when you spray it is in the evening, and you cover the top and bottom of the leafs as well as any exposed vines.

I use Ortho Max as a topical. In my area you can get it from lowes, home depot, and wally world.

Thanks for the replies.
The only insect control I have been using is Sevin. I spray the top and bottom of the leaves never thought to do the vines--Glad ths is the new growers section cause that seems to be a easy thing to know.
