I just found 4 borers in my 1287. I found a rot spot and stuck my knife in a bit and out pops borer on the 1st secondary from the stump. I seen the same thing on the 2nd secondary and sure enough another one. I cut the both off and found one more on the 1st and 1 were I cut the 2nd secondary off. Everything else looked good.any other steps I should take? or look out for?

Throw the Merit to it, drench and foliar. Fungicide to the parts you cut.

Fletch, Somtimes you don't have to cut an entire vine off just because of borers. I have borers in my 1130 and 985. Just take your knife and slowy and thinly shave off where the frass is until you find it. If it has been too long he may be deeper in the plant but there only seems to be one borer per area for me. This way you don't have to lose the plant. Just sprinkle on some captan or sulphur after the extraction and keep it dry.

Thanks, I did put captan on the cut areas. Now I know not to cut... just scrape. Thanks Again.

I cut the sprayer head off my sprayer wand and then glued a large hypodermic needle in it , I then stuck my vine with the needle and pumped BT all through the stalk, until BT shot out of the othe needle holes
