I had no idea going into this that there was such a science behind growing giant pumpkins. I am going to be setting a female in the morning, and have noticed people using multiple males. I have one plant so is this recommended or does it matter.

I have a lot of reading to do this Winter, but for now all I can do is ask especially when on the time crunch. Thanks again,

I think we go with the more is better plan..If you have 4 use them..If you only have one it will work to

Lol. To pumpkin growers more is always better.

When you really think about it however when a bee pollinates a pumpkin for you how much pollen can it really carry on it's body to the female flower? Really doesn't take much pollen but it can't hurt to use extra pollen. More pollen can increase the potential for getting more seeds when the pumpkin is harvested.

i like the pollination by power wash theory.whats that you say? two to three males minimum.
it may only take one grain but its better to have a bit to much than not enough. especially new growers who may not realize they are picking day old flowers or flowers that are really low on pollon grains.

if i have them i use at least 4 males every time. i have to do one in the morning, and i have 6 males this time.

If you only have one plant and you have plenty of bees you could always let them do it. Due to every unthinkable circumstance in the world I have ended up with only one plant this year. Since I could only self pollinate I have stood back and let the bees have their way. All pollinations so far have taken so....

Hoots, I wish I could, but I have recently moved to the city from rural Mo. I gave up my Ozark fishing for a job and found this as a hobby to keep me sane. Unfortunately, I see few bees here.

My 4 lobe looks good, I'm going Bronzeback fishing tomorrow, and the wife will tend (I hope). Thanks all.
