For using 10 day benchmarks, is the day you pollinate day zero or day one?

Has the plant shifted from the vegitative growth stage yet? We have had some wonderful pollinations sit well past the "10 day" measurments as the plant shifts. Hint-dead head secondaries...

Thanks Will. Gad's - do you think dead-heading secondaries is still a good idea if some of the secondaries are way behind. Right now my plant is taking up only about 40% of the patch space and my patch is only about 250 sq feet. So I was planning on letting secondaries fill out where they will.

Gad, I am not sure if I am following, but some pollinations will sit idle or slow growth the first 10 days, but then can make up for it later after the plant fills out? This is my first year and that would explain a lot. Thanks
