nights even when they have just been polinated? My pumpkins from my first polination don't seem to be growing very fast. I wonder if they are not taking. I am only feeding the plants with fish and seaweed fertilizer once a week so I don't think I am overfeeding causing them to abort.

My plants look great. I have already dead head my back three side vines on a couple of my plants. Hopefully this will send a signal to the pumpkins to start growing. The rest of the plants are starting to get close. Just very little pumpkin grow. I wonder if I should back off of fertilizing all together?

Subway, I believe that is normal for all growth to slow the past few days here in western PA. Mine are not growing much either. Although my 763 Young did gain 19 pounds/ day the last 3 days :) By the way ,you don't live very far from me. I live near the "Tara" ,Clark Pa. Lee Zappa

Yea you are close. I think my mason lives up your way. How are your plants coming? Do you go to Canfield weigh off. Are you growing any of Quinns plants?

Plants are doing great (diary under ZAPPA). I will definatly be there as a spectator, not sure if I will have anything worth weighing in Oct. I may have one for the fair. I don't have any of Quinn's seeds, but would love to grow some !!! Let me know how your season is going e mail at lewecode@verizon.net Lee Zappa

SubwayPanther1, I've heard of people adding potash near the basil crown (stump) and on either side of the main. If the pumpkin looks shiny and not dull, it's still growing. Terminating the secondaries over a couple of days/weeks would probably be better than all at once. And, wise words from heavy hitters: October is still a way off. So, we are in a marathon, not a sprint.
