The main vine is the vine coming out of the ground that all of the other vines grow from, the vines growing from the main vine are called secondary vines and the vines growing from the secondaries are called tertary vines, these you usually clip of f the secondary vines.

Zap, When the AG is in bush stage(early) the main usally comes from the center and becomes longer and heavyier than the other leafs. It will become so heavy it will finally touch the ground and RUN. At the in of the main there will be a cluster, which is a tendril and leaf and more new growth. Here is a picture of my 683, and it's still a young plant however the main has ALREADY shown itself.

As you can see zap, the tendril is the two wisker looking things and the cluster of new growth makes the main noticeable. I have place two stakes to help the main downward. Hope this helps. T-R-O-O-P-E-R

SCTROOPER - Think you meant to put this Link -- the one you posted links to your local directory instead of your Diary page - ( http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=134515 )
zap1 - the main is the vine you can see in his pic on the left side of the pic starting to run.
