Hi everyone, I am new to the board, new to giant pumpkins and new to gardening in general!
I have been really successful growing 'Max' from seed, and repotted him. He was getting really huge, and I can't plant him out yet as I'm in England and our last frost may not have happened yet (the experts recommend mid May to plant out).
Anyway, he was outgrowing his second pot, so I tried to repot him today and I split the main vine lengthways - I would say the split is about 3 inches long. It seems like the vine wants to twist up, but it is so heavy it is laying down and putting pressure.
I have taped up the stem with some floral tape (shockingly I had some in my craft box!) and am hoping for the best. There are lots of flowers starting to grow, but nothing open yet..
Have I killed him? What do I do? Please help I am very worried. Will he still grow a pumpkin? Will it heal?
I was planning to move him to a green house to start to harden off in the morning but I'm scared to move him at all now!
Thanks for any help or advice. :(

Thanks Don,
I will sew another seed. Is it worth persevering with max? I could plant him (we may not get any more frost, its just a bit risky) or should I just throw him away? Oh it is heartbreaking - I was really excited about my first pumpkin! :(
