I don't expect any Americans to know who Jean Charest is. In short, he was the leader of the PC Party ( Republican equivalent in Canada ) in 1993. In 1998 he switched parties and shortly after became the Liberal Premier of Quebec. To put it in context, he ran against the then Separatist leader Lucien Bouchard who wanted to separate from Canada. You can say that Charest took one for the team and prevented Quebec from separating from Canada. Charest, born in Quebec, was the obvious choice to win the election. Charest has since returned to the PC Party and running for the leadership.
Enter Charlie Crist, now running as a Democrat for Governor in the |State of Florida after being the Republican Governor of the same state.
Taking one for the team or blind ambition? Not looking for an argument, I just find this curious.

People in Florida are very happy with their current governor especially the way he handled covid. He didn't close Florida down like the rest of the world and fought for kids rights to be normal kids. Desantis also doesn't conform to all the woke nonsense.
Mark this thread, Crist has no chance over Desantis. Liberal media is inflating Crist, but that's just a good story.
I spent a month in Florida so far this year for work and vacation, and this is the general attitude I pick up.

Andy, all my opinion above. You’ll find plenty that says the opposite on how Desantis handled covid and maybe even a poll that’ll favor Christ. I’m sure both parties are ready to sling mud.
And yes, I never heard of Charest, but very interesting story.
Anyone else have an opinion, this is a good post and comparison.
