Crazy, when I read that name, all I think is the orange monster he grew many years ago that was 1600+.

Story is hard for me to absorb\understand. Why take payments that small from China with such high risk and little reward. I feel like half the "plot" is missing.

Something is missing to this story. Find it hard to believe that he was coming through customs with bags full of money and was not caught. I would be willing to bet on an appeal being filed.
Could be they are trying to scare scientists to not collaberate with foreign entities.

Intelligent man, and talented grower. Sad that he got entangled in all of this. With the DoD and NIH funding associated with his research and the large sums of money paid to him by that China talent program you'd think this intelligent man would know all of that wouldn't go unnoticed. I agree with Smallmouth, I'd be willing to bet there's a lot more to the story.

Their can be two very different sides of the story like with Tawana Brawley and Duke lacrosse fiascos. But this time it is the government making accusations, which given who is in control, it would seem odd to smear the image of Harvard over nothing. It seems like they would make an example out of someone who works for a less politically connected institution.

Open mind, until the facts become more clear, but I am thinking there has to be more when you are publicizing
the arrest of an employee who works at an institution where 8 U.S. Presidents attended and 2 Vice-Presidents.

Considering the feds are coming down somewhat hard on the January 6th protesters... maybe Leiber is a good guy who refused to go along with some evil plan. As far as I can tell dont even know who is in power and what their real intentions are... Assange is still in prison. Doesnt really mean he did anything wrong other than ruffle the wrong feathers.

Trump deserves criticism as we all do. The crazy thing isnt criticizing Trump... it is putting the entire Democrat party on an angelic pedestal. But anyhow, such is the nature of worship... deserving or not, someone has to be up there on the pedestal of perfect... :)

i could try looking...but easier to ask has anyone broken nana's number for offspring from the 1610. I am not going to look, but I think she was at 1236...mine might be 2nd at 1211. LJ was on pace to beat it, until he was hickuped by hail.

Next year, I am thinking that i might step back in the line...and try growing the 356 in almost pure sand. A bit of chemistry knowledge would help.

thanks pumpking, sorry for the late reply, I looked at the pumpkinfanatic site...nana's was the largest of selfed. 356 borgers 2015 is not listed there, it is selfed 184 lien, it was weighed as an exhibition. 356 grew, 1109,1211, and then lance johnsons(he selfed also), i am not positive of his weight. Nana's was 1213.5, It does not show any selfed 1213.5's. I do not see any progeny from the 904 Wetzel 2011. As far as progeny from the 356 and the 710. Todd Lenz, grew a 479 in 2018 from the 356 selfed. He is wanting to try again next spring with 4 year old seed from his first pumpkin. Many seeds from the 356 and 710 were sent to china...i traded Gao Chao seeds for real currency from china (paper and coin). It took two sending posts...after i inquired after the first, if seeds were received. The second was done with Fed Ex tracking at my cost..I think it only cost me $100 to ship those seeds for a bit of yuan. Hmmm, china......makes me wonder.
