Trump will be leaving such a mess behind. It will take years to clean it up, if it can actually be cleaned up. It will take everyone working together to get it done. Can we do it?

With the last 13 presidential terms, we have had only 2 balanced budgets and 50 deficits. Trump had 4 of the deficits. Yes, he is leaving a budget mess. The same one that was left for him.

We have military troops in conflicts around the planet. But North Korea stopped nuke testing and several nations are negotiating peace with Israel. Trump is leaving a mess in the peace area, but he cleaned up a lot of the mess that was left for him.

Trump took over an economy that was a mess but improving slowly. He kicked the recovery up; lowest unemployment, highest stock market until the pandemic hit. So the economy is in a mess, due to the pandemic.

Biden has been in office, congress and VP for over 40 years. Trump had 4 years. Biden had far more time in positions of power. But we are being told everything is Trump's fault tp prepare us for the huge mess Biden will make.

But nothing is different. They all blamed previous presidents. Trump blamed Obama, Obama blamed Bush. And on and on. The big question should be how much damage will Biden do.

Its all about perspective Iowegian. The economy wasn't improving slowly, it had made a full recovery from the great recession of 2009. A problem that Trump never had to deal with at the beginning of his Presidency.

Unemployment: Under Obama, unemployment was cut from a recession-peak of 10 percent
to only 4.7 percent. It has continued to drop and now is has been as low as at 3.6 percent.

Job growth: By the end of the Obama administration, the economy had experienced 76 consecutive months of job growth. Since Trump became president, the streak has been
extended

Average monthly job growth: During the last 33 months of the Obama administration, nonfarm job growth averaged 224,000 per month. During the first 33 months of the Trump administration, the average was 34,000 jobs per month less.
GDP growth: Average real GDP growth was roughly the same (2.6 percent) for the first 11
quarters under President Trump (ending Sept. 2019) and for the last 11 quarters of the Obama
administration.
Income: During the last two years of the Obama administration, annual median household
income increased $4,800. This is three times more than the $1,400 increase during the first
two years of the Trump administration.

The stock market: President Trump frequently points to the stock market as evidence of his
success, even though it is a poor proxy for the nation’s overall economic well-being since
nearly half of Americans do not own stock, either directly or indirectly. However, even by
this measure, he lags behind President Obama. Between President Trump’s Inauguration Day
and November 2019, the Dow Jones Average increased more than 40 percent, while over
the eight years of the Obama administration, the DJIA increased almost 150 percent – a substantially greater pace.

Mainstream economists say the economy was strong before Trump took office.

The economy will be a mess for a long time, and it won't be Trump's or Biden's fault. Blame it on the pandemic. No one had an instant cure, hospitals were caught unprepared. No one had ever faced something like this. A disease that runs from deadly to totally harmless. Politicians didn't know how to react. Some tried to lock everything down, some did nothing, one sent patients to nursing homes where they could spread it to the most vulnerable people.

I don't expect Biden to fix all our problems. and its not his fault. Nobody has the problems figured out yet. And Biden was obviously pushed into a mess while his memory is slipping.

What I will judge the next administration by is how they protect our freedom. We are seeing complaints of religion being attacked in several states, The gun rights community are pointing out all the gun control proposals Biden ran on. Small businesses are complaining that they are being wiped out while big businesses get special treatment.

We need to make sure that we don't give up any of our rights while fighting the pandemic, because we will never get them back.

I’m only guessing that this thread is full of Blossom downer, GKins, Grumpy Kins, Gritty something or other Kins, identity crisis Kins. He/ she is the only entity here on BP who I find worthy of the ignore button. I swore a few weeks ago that I wouldn’t respond to any of her posts, what a relief. She can troll whatever she wants and I’ll never see it.

Lol@Andy. Same here, I’ve blocked a few regular crap disturbers on this website but I can still tell when they post something idiotic by the comments of others.

Marv, great idea to block the individuals on here that lack credibility and can’t logically communicate with others.

A few of the posters that I’ve blocked are long gone now anyways and have found other venues that fill the void they are trying to fill in their lives. The current small list of people in my “blocked list” don’t add to the conversations and cersinly don’t bring anything to the table in their diaries or ability to help anyone become a better gardener or grower.
